ERDO - Crisis Response Burma Myanmar
Burma / Myanmar, located west of the Thailand border, is in direct need of assistance due to “Cyclone Nargis” that hit the Irrawaddy Delta, Saturday, May 3rd, 2008. According to UN officials it is estimated that 1.5 million people have been left homeless by the disaster. While the official death toll currently stands at 22,000 international estimates and reports coming from within Myanmar state the number of deaths is closer to 100,000 and will increase if aid in the form of food, clean water, shelter and sanitation does not reach the affected areas in the next 5 or 6 days. Generous, substantial gifts will enable ERDO to provide immediate, life saving assistance to thousands of people. We have already forwarded funds for immediate purchase of blankets, mosquito nets, clean water and emergency food relief.
